Ike's Aftermath

Ike made landfall on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at approximately 2:30AM.  He was a strong Catagory 2 storm, with winds reaching 110MPH.  A storm surge of nearly 18 feet rushed up the Galveston and Houston Ship Channels, taking lives, homes and memories with it.  On Bolivar Penensula alone, nearly every single structure was completely destroyed. Authorities say they may never find all the bodies during their search and recovery process.

I intentionally left the satellite and radar shots here, as these were the last I could get on TXStorm before my power went out, and I could no longer access the server. I hope the following will serve as a reminder to all, showing the power of a hurricane.

Keep in mind that we were actually pretty fortunate with Ike. Imagine, after viewing the following pictures, just how much worse it would have been if Ike came in as a Catagory 3? 4? 5? It's incomprehensible to think how much total destruction and loss of life we would have had.  We had too much loss of lives and property as it was, but next time, will you stay...or will you evacuate
if told to do so?
